Anna Hakobyan’s invitation to Mehriban Aliyeva another uncalculated step: expert
The invitation Anna Hakobyan addressed to Mehriban Aliyeva to visit Artsakh is another uncalculated step and may be assessed as an essential blow to Artsakh’s subjectivity, expert from Hayatsk think tank Rozy Mikayelyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“Anna Hakobyan’s statement is a serious blow to Artsakh’s subjectivity. Armenia is guarantor of Artsakh’s security, thus it was important not to invite Aliyeva to Artsakh citing UN Resolution but the invitation would better be initiated by the Artsakh authorities, of course, if they consider it expedient,” the expert said.
“Anna Hakobyan has forgotten one important thing as well – Mehriban Aliyeva is not just first lady but also the first vice-president of Azerbaijan,” she said, describing Hakobyan’s initiative irresponsible, resulting in success of Azerbaijan at registering its position in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict negotiations.
“During the past year we did not only fail to return Artsakh to the table of negotiations but as a result of such uncalculated statements the mediators started speaking about the importance of inter-community dialogue in the pre-context of the conflict regulation,” she said, adding that it was referred to by Russia’s foreign minister Sergey Lavrov as well.
“The Armenian authorities must clearly realize that Artsakh’s subjectivity is very important for the reinforcement and implementation of right of people to self-determination and peaceful resolution of the conflict,” she said.
