The year and half should have been enough for Armenia’s authorities to get familiarized with negotiation process: political analyst
The last one year and half was time for Armenia to get familiarized with Madrid principles, political analyst Khachik Galstyan said at the Aysor.am’s From the First Glance program.
Asked about the changes at the negotiations, Galstyan said that the time and role-makers have changed but the key approaches and principles remained unchanged.
He said before the OSCE Ministerial Council Azerbaijan just accomplished and demonstrated its maximalist position and received equivalent response from the Armenia side.
“Azerbaijan opened its playing cards in Bratislava: if during the past one year and a half Azerbaijan was demonstrating its position with small proportions, in Bratislava their cup of patience seemed to have filled and they circulated their maximalist position giving Armenia a ground to respond more toughly and present Armenia’s vision over the resolution of the conflict,” the political analyst said.
Galstyan said the mediators too urge to start substantial negotiations.
“In general we had a revolution last year, change of power, new government was formed in Armenia which before it did not have any experience in the Artsakh conflict settlement talks. There were new people who were to start the talks from the new page,” the political analyst said, adding that the year and a half seems to be enough to get familiarized with the process.
“This is why the co-chairs were stressing the necessity of avoiding artificial protractions. I think it was addressed to us and speaking with pre-conditions was addressed to Azerbaijan,” he said.
