Today CC is the only impregnable fortress by invading which the authorities may bring into life any initiative: Gevorg Petrosyan

Lawmaker from Prosperous Armenia faction Gevorg Petrosyan, speaking at the NA today, stated that the whole state machine has been engaged in the process of sending the Constitutional Court judges to the early retirement. The lawmaker stressed that it is not a volunteer process and this right is being imposed on people.

“Why the members elected after 2018 have been chosen? Because those elected before it are representatives of the former authorities. Mr minister, have you asked the tax payers whether they want to pay 800,000 monthly salary to non-working judge. I can say for sure, they don’t,” the lawmaker asked justice minister Rustam Badasyan.

He said today the CC has remained the only impregnable fortress by invading which the authorities may bring into life any initiative, including the Istanbul Convention while the current staff will not allow it to happen.

“You too have confessed that the issue of the CC is exclusively political,” Petrosyan said.
