Armenia not planning construction of new nuclear plant yet: minister
Armenia’s territorial and infrastructures minister Suren Papikyan told the reporters today that Armenia is not discussing opportunity of building new nuclear power plant in near future.
“Currently Russia, Korea, the USA have projects of nuclear plants with smaller power but they are not operating yet. I do not exclude that at some phase after their operation Armenia may put such issue before it but as of now this power unit may operate both till 2026 and up to 2036,” the minister said.
Asked whether the upgrading Armenia plans to exploit the energy unit till 2036, the minister said, “I do not want to run ahead but its opportunities allow it.”
