Russia agrees to extension of loan addressed to upgrading 2d power unit: minister
Russia and Armenia have agreed over the extension of loan intended for upgrading the 2d energy unit of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant, territorial administration and infrastructures minister Suren Papikyan told the reporters today.
“The issue on extension of the loan was discussed during this year. As of the moment we have reached mutual agreement,” he said, adding that the Russian minister of finance has already provided the extension agreement.
The minister said the issue will be discussed at the upcoming cabinet sitting.
“Just legal procedures have remained for the two parties to accomplish. The works are rather complicated and taking into consideration the significance of the structure and its security the hastiness may harm the works. This is the reason why a necessity is being created to extend some works,” Papikyan said, explaining also the necessity of extension of the loan till 2020 which will allow accomplishing the upgrading works of the 2d energy unit.
