Person tortured by batons and gas masks in revealed footage identified
The Special Investigation Service has identified the person seen being tortured by the police officers at the footage that appeared in web recently, SIS spokesperson Marina Ohanjanyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
“The person in the video has been identified. The period when it took place as well. Investigative and other legal procedures are undertaken but no details may be unveiled currently,” Ohanjanyan said.
The spokesperson said additional information will be provided later.
The footage shows police officers forcing a person to testify by using gas masks and batons.
A criminal case has been initiated. Two police officers in the footage have been identified. The authorities of one have been suspended, the other was not working in the system.
Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan responded to the case demanding launching immediate criminal proceedings.
