Time has come to work with Trump: political analyst
Political analyst, expert in international relations Suren Sargsyan referred in Facebook post to the adoption of the Resolution by the U.S. Senate recognizing the Armenian genocide.
“The adoption of the resolution by the Senate and our further steps:
What happened:
1. The adopted resolution is not a law. It is a statement which does not have legal force and will not be sent to President Trump for signing it.
2. The two chambers of the U.S. Congress adopted resolutions recognizing the Armenian Genocide.
3. The president and state officials are not obliged to use the word Genocide.
Why now:
1. Today the anti-Turkish moods in Washington are very accentuated.
2. Defending Turks is very unthankful work.
3. The Senators who put the veto on the resolution experienced serious public pressure which was even stronger than the requests of the White House. This is why they did not reaffirm their veto.
4. The credit of this victory belongs exclusively to our community, to the two organizations.
5. Turkish-American relations were never so bad. I will say so: this was not our war but we had our share of victory.
P.S. Now the time has come to work with Trump.”
