Turkey’s policy threatens Armenia’s security: Armenia’s PM
The policy of denial by Turkey continues being a threat to Armenian people and the Republic of Armenia, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the consultation dedicated to the 2020 budget allocations to the Defense Ministry.
“For already 30 years Turkey keeps the Armenian-Turkish border closed and conducts deconstructive and aggressive policy in the region. The international community must express clear position over the actions of that country and encourage Turkey to review its role in our region,” the prime minister said, reiterating Armenia’s readiness to establish relations with Turkey without preconditions.
At the same time Pashinyan stressed that Armenian army is the only defender of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh Republic.
“Number one guarantor of the RA security is RA Armed Forces. I consider the huge changes taking place in the army during the last one and a half year very important. During this period unprecedented volume of armaments have been acquired which we need not for war but peace as unfortunately the aggressive policy carried out by a number of countries in the region need to be counterbalanced by Armenia with its restricting policy. This is the policy we are carrying out in the defense sector,” Pashinyan said.
