Armenia’s president to assume whole responsibility if signs unlawful bill on Constitutional Court into law: statement
Vernatun social-political club released a statement about the amendments into the constitutional law About Constitutional Court.
The club described the amendment as “legal” bribe to the CC judges or the law about privatization of CC.
“This is the regular step to get rid of independent, disobedient judges,” the club said in the statement, adding that the law about the CC contains the biggest risks.
“It is interference into CC works, is aimed at elimination of constitutional justice by usurpation of the CC authorities and threatens the constitutional order of the Republic of Armenia. With false grounding a basis is being put to anti-constitutional phenomena of change of judicial power following the change of political one,” the statement reads.
“The document aimed to satisfy the wishes of just one person on the account of the tax payers is currently in the domain of the Republic’s president and it is his commitment to cancel the process of adoption of the law sending it to the CC to decide its correspondence to the Constitution,” the statement said, adding that by signing the law the president will assume the whole responsibility of adoption of this unlawful and anti-democratic law and the consequences, as according to the Constitution, it is the function of the president to follow the protection of the Constitution.
“Even if the president signs the law, sooner or later it will be recognized anti-constitutional but the caused harmed will be irreversible. The time has come to realize the personal responsibility of the head of the state for the country’s present and future,” the statement said.
