Zhoghovurd daily’s editor describes the attack as an attempt to frighten and warn

Editor of Zhoghovurd daily Knar Manukyan excludes robbery to be the motive of the attack on the office.

“I cannot say anything for sure but it is an attempt to frighten and exert pressure on mass media which will do no good. It is obvious that they tried to find anything. The drawers of all the tables were open. My room is completely turned upside down,” she said, adding that she may suspect that it has been done by law enforcers to frighten and warn them.

Lawmaker from My Step faction Taguhi Tovmasyan (former editor-in-chief of the daily, before being elected member of parliament) speaking to the reporters described it as an attempt to reveal the source which gave information to the journalist of the media.

“I am very concerned how much the journalists are targeted now. A situation has been created now when each reporter before writing an article must think what will happen, whether they will be summoned to SIS to reveal their source or not,” the lawmaker said.
