Pashinyan tries to define “red lines” but it is not enough: expert
Armenian authorities state about identical positions of Armenia and Artsakh over Karabakh conflict settlement but they do not specify what position it is, expert from Hayatsk think tank Rozy Mikayelyan told Aysor.am, referring to the results of the joint session of the Armenian and Artsakh Security Councils.
“It is not clear and problematic. The publication of Azerbaijan’s approach in the form of the ultimatum raised the necessity for Armenia and Artsakh publish their positions too,” the expert said.
She stressed that for the first time Armenia clearly stated its position in Bratislava at the OSCE Ministerial Council by Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan.
“Now Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan continues the process and as a “red line” defines the issue of Artsakh status, registering that there can be no return to 86-87 status quo or any of its modifications. But this position does not give answer to all the questions,” Mikayelyan said.
“It is necessary to register that the settlement must have a package logic, which means that all the elements of the regulation must be agreed from the very beginning. No uncertainty should remain, including in timeframes,” she stressed.
The expert also stressed that after declaring about identical positions of Armenia and Artsakh, Pashinyan states that the conduction of joint sessions of the Security Councils are important for comparing the positions.
“Such statement is at list self-contradicting,” she said.
