Armenia’s PM stresses importance of depoliticizing football at the meeting with newly elected AFF president
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan hosted today at the government newly elected president of the Armenia’s Football Federation Armen Melikbekyan.
During the meeting the prime minister stressed the importance of depoliticizing football and sports in general.
“I think it is our next big issue as in many cases an attempt is being made to serve sport for the political and other ambitions of some groups, forces, individuals. We must not allow the athletes serving for the state become backgrounds for self-advertisement of some groups and individuals or for some political processes,” Pashinyan said.
The PM stated that the new president of the AFF faces very serious mission and that the development of football is of strategic significance for the government.
