Police actions aimed at discrediting me: president of YSU Student’s Council
President of the YSU Student’s Council Davit Apoyan says he doubts the lawfulness of the actions of the police who took him to police department and is planning to report about it for starting a proceeding.
“I will make a corresponding statement with all the necessary groundings. At first I was taken as a suspect and then my status was changed and I was interrogated as a witness. In both cases I see no grounds for taking me to the police department,” Apoyan said, speaking to Aysor.am.
He stressed that from the very beginning the actions against him were aimed at discrediting him as there is no logic in the actions of the police officers.
“Luckily, they did not reach their goal and I think now the time is for justice to be implemented,” he said, adding that it is the second case when ahead of the session of the Board of Trustees he appears in the police as a result of some “accidents.”
“In general I have appeared in the police department twice. The first time I was summoned in a sidelines of a case happened in the YSU during which I was serving in the army and this is the second case I have no relation with in general. These cases with very interesting accident coincide with the session of the Board of Trustees,” he told Aysor.am, stressing that like during the previous sessions, this time as well he is going to be very active and speak about a number of important issues.
“One of them relates to the elections of the YSU rector as with ungrounded reasons no competition is being declared for the vacant post of the rector. The other issues are agreed with the working style of the Board of Trustees,” he said.
Earlier, acting rector of the YSU Gegham Gevorgyan said, police officers came after Apoyan and took him in handcuffs after the latter did not go to the police department after reciving notification.
“It is not truth, I do not know why the acting rector is telling such things,” he said, adding that Gevorgyan is the only person justifying the actions of the police.
Apoyan was taken to police department and interrogated in the sidelines of shooting in the yard of the YSU on December 20.
