De-escalation noticed in Iranian-U.S. relations: Armenia’s NSC Secretary
According to our assessment, de-escalation is noticed in Iranian-U.S. relations, National Security Council Secretary Armen Grigoryan told the reporters today, asked about the recent tension in Iran-USA relations.
“Of course we are always getting prepared for worst. In general, wide-scale work has been carried out during both the Syrian and Iranian crises. We have managed to work out plans of evacuation and crisis response which is very important progress for our governmental system. Our institutional abilities have become more powerful after these two crises, and we clearly know what to do,” the NSC secretary said.
Asked about possibility for Armenia to offer mediation to Iran and the USA, Grigoryan said such option has not been discussed yet.
“Of course we want the conflict be resolved as soon as possible and see our role in continuing the dialogue with the two parties,” he said.
At the same time Grigoryan said that Armenia does not face any issues regarding the economic security in the created situation.
“We have discussed all the possible options starting from food safety till the work of the security infrastructures. We have already found alternative solutions and are ready if of course no force majeure situations occur. In general, our expectations are positive,” he said.
