Torosyan became minister thanks to us and now he closes Yeghvard maternity house: residents
The maternity house of Yeghvard community of Kotayk province is being dissolved with the decision of the minister of healthcare Arsen Torosyan.
Residents of Yeghvard and nearby communities, joined the employees of the maternity house to express their protest over the decision.
They say they will face serious issues if the maternity house closes as it will mean both the employees will lose their jobs and the pregnant women will face problems.
“People worked here with low salaries, the hospital has been closed. The decision seems to be made on purpose. They were saying the conditions were bad, number of people applying became less,” he said, adding that they may improve the conditions instead of closing the maternity house.
“He became healthcare minister thanks to these doctors and nurses, they were saying that Yeghvard hospital took to streets, closed the road, now he became a minister and closes the hospital. He became minister thanks to us,” another resident claimed.
The protesters stated that if necessary they will all gather outside government while now they demand meetings with mayor and Kotayk governor.
A decision was made to continue the action tomorrow from 10 a.m.
With the decision of the health minister funding of a number of medical establishments in provinces is cancelled as a result a number of maternity houses are being closed.
