Monuments should be treated more cautiously: architect on opening historic layer under Republican Square
Monuments must be treated more cautiously, Armenian renowned architect Hrach Poghosyan stated at a discussion referring to the opening of historic layer under the Republican Square.
“The bottom layer of the Republican Square has not been seriously studied yet, besides, there are many issues with the area – parking, transport hub, etc. Why open the layer and show it? Before doing it, there is a need to make in-depth studies. It is not a place to make hasty decisions,” Poghosyan said.
The architect stressed that monuments of architectural values are not being preserved in Yerevan.
Earlier, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan wrote on Facebook about the necessity to open the historic layer under the Republican Square and turn it into a museum.
