Gas price for consumers may be raised: Gazprom Armenia to possibly apply for raising gas tariff
Chairman of the Public Service Regulatory Commission Garegin Baghramyan did not exclude that Gazprom Armenia may submit application for raising the gas tariff for consumers.
Speaking to Lragir.am, Baghramyan said the statement about unchanged gas tariff relates to the gas sold on the border and it does not mean that Gazprom Armenia cannot submit application to the Commission.
Asked whether the application will be for raise of tariff only, the Chairman of the Commission said, “The price on the border was raised by $15 which is calculated $30 as with today’s tariffs Gazprom has taken over $15 on it,” he said.
According to the information in late 2019, Gazprom Export and Gazprom Armenia signed additional gas supply agreement, under which the price for the gas sold to Armenia will remain unchanged.
The gas price was raised in early 2019 becoming $165 for 1,000 cubic meters against previous $150.
The raise was followed with the statements of the Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan and government representatives that the hike in gas price would not affect customers and the gas prices for them will remain unchanged.
Baghramyan said they are negotiating with the company.
“As a result of negotiations we managed to keep the price unchanged in 2019 but now the tariff may be raised,” Baghramyan said.
