Armenia’s PM urges to apply mechanisms to reveal real owners of TV companies
Concrete answers are given to monopolistic manifestations in Armenia, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said at the cabinet sitting today, stressing that it is result of the government’s consistent policy.
“We must raise the transparency of institutions playing significant role in our public life. I am speaking in particular about television market where as of today we have certain monopoly position,” he said.
Pashinyan stressed that two structures have been created in Armenia one of which distributes the money formed in the TV ad market and the other measures the rating of the TV companies and distributes the money in accordance with the rating.
“The very system of distribution of advertisements is monopolized,” he said.
The head of the government stressed that the NGOs and mass media in Armenia must be transparent and their real owners must be known.
The PM stressed that the level of democracy in Armenia is so high that there are even television companies of corrupt people.
“Instead of logos of at least two TV channels we may write corruption,” he said.
“The information war against our government and the people helps us to raise the quality of our work, nevertheless we must reveal the real essence of the TV companies,” Pashinyan said.
The head of the government also addressed to the Justice Minister Rustam Badasyan asking whether they are planning to apply mechanisms to reveal the real owners of TV companies and received positive response.
