News on untimely death of NSS former director Georgi Kutoyan painful and shocking: NSS
Acting director of the National Security Service Eduard Martirosyan extended condolences on the death of the former director of the NSS Georgi Kutoyan.
“The news on the untimely death of Georgi Kutoyan was very painful and shocking. In the short period of heading the NSS Georgi Kutoyan managed to gain the trust and respect of his colleagues. He was a decent person with big professional abilities and big sense of responsibility, despite his young age he was also an experienced official,” Martirosyan’s statement said.
He also expressed conviction that the investigative body as well as other law enforcement structures of Armenia, including the NSS, will do everything possible on the margins of their functions, to give final answers to all the questions this tragedy has raised.
“On behalf of the whole staff of the NSS and personally on my behalf I express deepest condolences to the members of Georgi Kutoyan’s family, relatives, friends and colleagues,” the statement said.
Kutoyan was found with a gun shot to his temple on January 17 in the apartment in Yerevan Paruyr Sevak street.
Kutoyan was 38 years old, he was married and had a 4-year-old child.
He was appointed in the post of the NSS director in February 2016 and dismissed from post in May 2018 after the revolution.
