March 1 case court hearing delayed: Robert Kocharyan’s lawyers boycotted today’s hearing
The regular court hearing of Robert Kocharyan and other ex-top officials’ case has been delayed after lawyers of Armenia’s second president boycotted the hearing.
The judge said the next hearing is scheduled for February 4, 1pm and will refer to the behavior of the lawyers who failed to attend today’s hearing.
Today’s session was attended by lawyers of Seyran Ohanyan (ex-defense minister) and Yuri Khachaturov (ex-secretary general of the CSTO).
The lawyers of Robert Kocharyan and former deputy prime minister Armen Gevorgyan were not present at the court hearing.
Judge Anna Danibekyan said the lawyers addressed a note saying that during the previous session if the victim’s successor voiced threats in the address of the lawyers which did not receive proper response by the court.
The previous hearing was missed by Yuri Khachaturov’s lawyer Mihran Poghosyan who later explained the reason of his absence.
Nevertheless the judge applied sanction against the lawyer, saying that he failed to implement his duty of attending court hearing and defending his client’s interests.
