Failure to create investigative committee to result in big political issue: Edmon Marukyan warns political majority against failing tomorrow’s voting
The issue on creating an ad hoc investigative committee to study the corruption risks in Yerevan community gave a reason for hot discussions at the National Assembly.
My Step faction deputies stated that they do not understand the necessity of setting the committee.
Bright Armenia faction head Edmon Marukyan noted that if tomorrow the political majority fails the voting and the staff of the committee is not confirmed it will be a big blow to the parliamentary democracy of the country.
“I hope the prime minister knows what you want to do tomorrow. I want to address to the NA leadership and My Step faction head Lilit Makunts, if you fail the decision to approve the staff of the committee it will be a big blow to the parliamentary democracy of Armenia because you, as a political majority, will make majority in the committee as well and will see whether there is corruption or not. But you want to protect corruption, you do not want establishment of the committee. If the voting tomorrow fails, we will have big political issue. Don’t do it,” Marukyan said.
