Robert Kocharyan: I am destined to free the country from vicious authorities
Armenia’s second president Robert Kocharyan, who is in custody accused of an attempt to overthrow the constitutional order in the country, believes that he will head a movement against the acting authorities.
“With their essence and actions the authorities brought me back to politics, keeping me in custody, the authorities turned me into a symbol of resistance of their untalented politics. In time the fate gave me an opportunity to head the fight for Karabakh’s independence. When the movement was just beginning I hardly escaped from Azerbaijan’s custody. Ironically, by depriving me of freedom our authorities did what the Azerbaijanis could not do then,” Kocharyan said in an interview with Yerevan.Today.
He stressed that the history has many successful examples of inspiration with political fight from the jail.
“I guess I am destined to play a very important role in freeing the country from vicious authorities who destroy our national identity,” Kocharyan said.
