CC chairman lawyer: We are dealing with overthrow of constitutional order and usurpation of the CC
The head of the executive power even is not trying to hide his direct relation to the disgraceful report of the Public TV of Armenia, lawyer of the chairman of Constitutional Court Amram Makinyan wrote on Facebook.
“It is even senseless to speak about the violation of constitutional principles, rough and cynical violation of fundamental rights. We are dealing with obvious crime of overthrow of constitutional order and usurpation of the Constitutional Court,” Makinyan wrote.
Yesterday the Armenian Public Television showed a coverage in its evening news program relating to the chairman of the Constitutional Court and telling about the criminal proceedings against him at the Special Investigation Service relating to the period when Hrayr Tovmasyan was minister of justice.
Tovmasyan’s lawyers’ team claims that the coverage presents unreliable data, the proofs are presented impartially and the principle of presumption of innocence has been cynically violated.
Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan shared the coverage on his Facebook page, writing that Hrayr Tovmasyan cannot be chairman of the Constitutional Court and have any relation to the CC.
The CC chairman Hrayr Tovmasyan is accused of acquiring property by a straw person in 2012-2013 (while being justice minister 2010-2014) where the notary officials were working. He then gave the territory for the rent to the same notary officials causing harm to the state.
