Law demands sending constitutional amendments bill to CC for conclusion: Edmon Marukyan

The NA Council’s session ended with the agenda including only one issue – constitutional amendments, head of Bright Armenia faction Edmon Marukyan told the reporters.

“The rest package put into circulation by Vahagn Hovakimyan is not on the agenda anymore. The extraordinary sitting of the NA will take place at 1pm,” Marukyan said, adding that the bill on constitutional amendments will be discussed at one reading.

Asked whether by the second reading the bill will be sent to the Constitutional Court, Marukyan said the law demands it to be sent to the CC for getting conclusion.

Asked how the faction voted for the bill, Marukyan said, “We voted against.”

The amendments offered into Article 213 of the Armenian Constitution, envisage that the judges appointed before 2015 constitutional referendum and the chairman of the Constitutional Court must leave their posts.
