Bright Armenia will not be engaged in anti-constitutional process of constitutional referendum: Edmon Marukyan
Bright Armenia faction will not apply to the Constitutional Court to appeal the decision on conduction of referendum due to absence of the necessary number of signatures, head of the faction Edmon Marukyan told the reporters today.
“We were ready to submit the application but Bright Armenia faction does not have enough signatures, consequently the issue is closed,” he said.
Marukyan stressed that they have spoken many times about the necessity to change the Constitution while their proposals were always rejected.
“Today we are sending the people to the referendum for changing one article. The authorities are enjoying the system inherited by Serzh Sargsyan but do not agree for Hrayr Tovmasyan to work here,” he said.
The head of the faction also noted that the authorities expect “No” camp to be formed for attacking and eliminating it.
“Our position is the following: there should be no opposite camp in this anti-constitutional process of anti-constitutional referendum. There must be only “Yes” camp because the authorities need someone to conduct “No” campaign,” Marukyan said.
“Forming “No” campaign means giving the authorities a chance to generate hatred which will sooner or later result in bloodshed to which Bright Armenia has always been against. Consequently, we do not see us in any camp. We have used our toolset and are ready to apply to the CC if necessary number of signatures is gathered,” Marukyan stated.
