Armenia to taste negative effects of constitutional amendments for decades: ex-minister

Impression is that having obedient Constitutional Court is the highest priority, former minister of justice Davit Harutyunyan said today, presenting the results of activity of Luys Foundation in 2019.

“The attempts to do it make people do hasty, thoughtless steps which will create serious problems for Armenia,” Harutyunyan said.

“The failure to preserve the rules of the game will shutter our international reputation. The most serious issue is that we are following the anti-constitutional path, which is much more dangerous for us. We must realize that this is our issue and it is full of dangers,” he said.

Harutyunyan also stressed that if the CC judges quit, Armenia will taste the negative effects of it for decades.

“You will not find any court in the world which staff is fully changed at once. It creates instability,” the former minister said.
