Advocate Ruben Melikyan forms “No” propaganda camp

Hundreds of lawyers and human right advocates described the referendum initiated by the authorities as anti-constitutional, advocate Ruben Melikyan wrote on Facebook.

“Nevertheless, the referendum has been appointed and is becoming “de facto” reality,” he added.

Melikyan stated that as far as neither the parliamentary nor non-parliamentary opposition expressed wish to form “No” propaganda side discussions are being held with the attorney community to form “No” propaganda camp or civil initiative.

He said the goal of the initiative is to give the citizens an opportunity to hear grounded reasons for excluding “Yes,” give the citizens and the international community an opportunity to believe that the voting was controllable and appealable.

“Thus, our goal is to assume the “public protection” of “No” opinion for the sake of the Republic of Armenia and our citizens,” he wrote.
