Territorial administration and infrastructures minister does not deny being convicted, applies to NSS and police to reveal those behind the leakage
Minister of territorial administration and infrastructures Suren Papikyan applied to the National Security Service and the police following the publication by Hraparak entitled “Suren Papikyan hides the fact of being convicted.”
The media reported that while serving in the army Papikyan stabbed his commander.
In live video on Facebook Papikyan said that the media received instruction to discredit him and his work.
He stressed that according to the Armenian legislation, if a conviction is canceled the person is not considered to be a convict.
Papikyan said that the incident happened during his service in 2004-2006. He said it happened after his national dignity was offended.
“They write about a sharp cutting and stabbing tool, but it does not correspond to reality. I have not done such a thing. My participation is participation in non-statutory relationships. I have not pleaded guilty, and I was paroled which means my conviction is cancelled. It happened 13-14 years ago,” he said, adding that he closed that period of his life.
The minister also said that he will continue serving Armenia, Artsakh and Armenian people.
“Those who are trying to present me as evil will not succeed as I am the servant of my country and have not applied force against anyone and have not used weapon against anyone. I did not want such thing to happen,” Papikyan said, adding that he regrets having such experience in life.
“It was not a secret. I have not hidden anything,” the minister said, stressing that this is secret information and is kept in special department of the police.
“This information is available only to high-ranking officials of the law enforcement system. I want to register that the mentioned law enforcement representative or representatives were busy with collecting packages with incriminating materials against their colleagues and today this people are speaking about honor,” he said.
Papikyan applied to the NSS acting director and acting police chief to reveal who and how used the secret information about his life for discrediting him.
“All these actions are coordinated from one place,” the minister said.
