Conduction of the referendum is anti-constitutional process: advocate
If not the “No” propaganda side it would have been impossible to make the options either excluding or approving the “Yes” available to the citizens, co-founder of Legal Line NGO Ruben Melkonyan told in an interview with RFE/RL.
“Yes we claim that it is an anti-constitutional process, we do not only claim but we sent a note to the RA president. Regretfully, the president appointed referendum,” he said.
Speaking about propaganda, Melikyan said that the initiators of the “No” headquarters have neither time nor wish to be actively engaged in the propaganda and leave for provinces.
“We are not politicians and are not going to become so,” he said.
As to the authorities’ claims that the referendum is trust process, the advocate said the ballot will contain a concrete question which they consider anti-constitutional, thus there is no issue of trust.
Melikyan expressed hope that the proposals offered by the referendum will be rejected and no big shocks will be registered.
“After it the processes in our country must follow their regular pace,” he said.
