Yerevan couple arrested in Moscow Sheremetyevo airport for stealing $40,000 from Armenian citizen

Couple from Yerevan has been arrested in Moscow Sheremetyevo airport suspected in stealing 40,000 USD from a citizen of Armenia from Los Angeles-Moscow flight.

Russia’s Home Affairs Ministry official told TASS agency that they hid the stolen sum in their sneakers and coat pockets.

The Armenian woman applied to law enforcers in Sheremetyevo airport with the request to find her bag with $40,000. She said she left it in the Los Angeles-Moscow plane. The police checked the plane but did not find anything.

As a result of operative-search works a couple from Yerevan sitting beside the woman in the place fell under suspicion.

“The suspects have been discovered and apprehended while registering for the flight to Armenia. The woman was saying that she hardly moved due to bad health condition while in reality the banknotes in her sneakers did not allow her to walk normal. The other part of the stolen sum was found in the pocket of her husband,” ministry’s press service reports.

Criminal case has been instituted into stealing a considerably big amount.
