Serzh Sargsyan’s lawyer promises surprises in court

Armenia’s third president Serzh Sargsyan’s defense team is not familiarized with the court ruling on denying the motion to recuse prosecutor.

“We will express our opinion over the judicial act after getting familiarized with it,” Serzh Sargsyan’s lawyer Amram Makinyan told the reporters after the court hearing today, adding that the prosecutor demonstrates biased attitude in this case.

The lawyer said they would not speak about their further steps yet.

“We have no issue with the personality of the prosecutor, we have problem with his actions,” he stressed.

He said he sent an inquiry to the Statistical Service asking to say the cost of diesel fuel in 2013 both for wholesale and retail.

“We were provided for only retail – 465-467 AMD, do you imagine? In 2013 the price for diesel was not less than 457-460 AMD,” he said.

Makinyan noted that economic calculations should have been done in the sidelines of the criminal case.

The lawyer said that they sent the response to the inquiry to the investigator.

“I say, dear investigator, this information is of big significance for the case, and I motion to recognize it as an evidence and attach to the case, but the investigator denied it,” the lawyer said, promising surprises in the court.
