Construction of new nuclear power block is a necessity: official
The Armenian government is planning to prolong the work of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant till 2036, acting head of the Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Ministry’s Nuclear Power department Nune Alexanyan said.
“After 2026 if the secure exploitation of nuclear plant is confirmed, the government plans to extend the exploitation till 2036,” she said.
Alexanyan stressed that the extension of the operation of the nuclear power plant is one of the priorities of the Armenia’s government, another goal of the government is to build new power block.
“Taking into consideration the circumstance that Armenia does not have natural resources of gas and oil as well as taking into consideration the stable prices of nuclear diesel in the international market, having new station is considered a necessity,” she said.
