Armenia to try to purchase new bunch of masks, but prices will be higher: SCPEC chairman
Masks were exported from Armenia a while ago, president of the State Committee of Protection of Economic Competition Gegham Gevorgyan told the reporters today.
“The export was implemented by small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. The big pharmacy networks did not export medical masks,” he said.
Gevorgyan also said the big importers have not raised prices for face masks.
“As of the moment there are networks which do not have masks but prices remained unchanged. In small pharmacies the price for masks has been raised. We even have learnt that masks are being sold on List.am but they are not under our control,” he said.
The SCPEC chairman said they are trying to import new bunch of masks to Armenia but it was announced about their deficit.
“Our foreign partners stated that the prices for masks have been raised and in case of acquiring them, the price will be higher,” he said.
Gevorgyan though said that the Health Ministry has stored masks.
“The big companies have certain amount of stored masks too,” he said.
As to disinfecting substances, the SCPEC chairman said that their issue rose in one-two days after first reported coronavirus case in Armenia.
“But today the situation is different, the pharmacies have disinfecting substances,” Gevorgyan said.
