Lawmaker says law on seizure of illegal property to prevent return to old traditions

Being a state official means to be maximal transparent, My Step lawmaker Tatevik Hayrapetyan said, during the discussion of bills on Seizure of illegal property, adding that it refers to the relatives as well.

“It is not very pleasant when “all are counting your money,” but while assuming this mission, we assume a number of commitments and one if them is being accountable before the citizens, especially in case when our salaries are formed from their taxes. We must be maximal transparent both regarding our incomes and acquired property,” she said.

She noted that for decades many officials worked on acquiring property registering them on the names of their relatives. The lawmaker said the adoption of the bill will allow to exclude such situations.

“Only the fact that Prime Minister Pashinyan is a sworn anti-corruption, does not mean that a political force or head of force will not return to the old traditions. With this law we want to give legal assessment to the old traditions and exclude their repetition,” she said.
