Judge deciding people’s fate must be above 35: Gagik Tsarukyan
Head of Prosperous Armenia faction Gagik Tsarukyan speaking to reporters today stated that he is for encouraging young people but 25-year-old cannot decide the fates of people.
The response came to the question about discussions in the parliament suggesting making the age threshold for judge candidates 25 from existing 28.
“The 25 year old may be judges, but on economic, document affairs but not decide people’s fate. To decide people’s fate the judge must be above 35,” Tsarukyan said.
The head of the faction urged to study the international experience where the age threshold of judges is very high.
“We are not picking stars from above, it is a reality. They want to change something, but let them study the experience of the countries like the USA, UK,” he said.
