Hotel reservations of 5 big tourist groups cancelled, Memmingen-Gyumri first flight on March 26 endangered
Twenty and more hotel reservations were cancelled in Armenia’s Gyumri because of coronavirus, director of Shirak province’s tourism development center Naira Grigoryan told Aysor.am.
She said they have sent inquiries to hotels and guest houses to understand how many reservations were cancelled.
“The inquiries have been sent to 17 hotels, in 6 of which no reservations have been registered during one month, in the rest the situation is rather passive. Overall, reservations of 5 big and 2 small tourist groups have been cancelled,” she said, adding that over 20 reservations made by individuals have been cancelled because of coronavirus.
The reservations have been made from Russia, Austria, Germany, Armenia.
Many guest houses have been closed on their initiative to prevent spread of coronavirus.
Naira Grigoryan said they have concerns that the first flight to Gyumri from Germany’s Memmingen on March 26 by Ryanair will be cancelled as instead of arriving from Italy, people may prefer to arrive through Germany to avoid quarantine.
“In case of coming from Italy to Armenia they would have been immediately isolated, while now they may decide to come from Germany,” she said.
As of March 13, 6 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Armenia.
