140 citizens of Armenia stuck at Upper Lars border checkpoint for days enter Armenia: deputy PM
About 140 citizens of Armenia entered Armenia’s territory after staying on Upper Lars border for days, Armenia’s commandant, deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan reports.
He said it has become possible after lasting negotiations with Russian and Georgian partners, as an exception.
“I want to express my gratitude to the Georgian and Russian authorities, Armenia’s ambassador to Georgia and Armenian consul general in Rostov. I want to stress that with the decision of the Georgia’s government, the foreigners, including citizens of Armenia cannot enter Georgia’s territory,” he wrote.
Avinyan urged Armenia citizens wishing to return from Russia to come via air to avoid such situations.
