CSTO Secretary General expresses concern over recent incident at Armenian-Azerbaijani border
CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas expressed his concern over the March 30 incident at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as a result of which two Armenian servicemen and a civilian have been wounded.
According to the issued press release of the organization, Stanislav Zas noted that the facts do not contribute to the regulation of the situation on the border of the two neighbor states and testify the violation of ceasefire acquired on the level of leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
“The CSTO Secretary General noted that the CSTO Council, the Council of CSTO Foreign Ministers in their statements have many times draw the attention and urged the parties to settle the conflict in exclusively peaceful way and avoid provocative actions to prevent the growth of tension in the CSTO responsibility zone,” Interfax cites the statement.
Zas said “the restriction of the parties and the stabilization of the situation are particularly important in the period of existence of the new threat – coronavirus pandemic which does not recognize either borders or nationalities.”
