Armenia’s FM, U.S. Acting Assistant Secretary discuss situation at Armenian-Azerbaijani border
Armenia’s Foreign Minister Zohrab Mnatsakanyan and Acting Assistant Secretary at United States Bureau of European & Eurasian Affairs Philip Reeker had a phone conversation on March 31 at the initiative of the U.S. side.
Armenia’s MFA reports that during the conversation the interlocutors exchanged ideas over the challenges caused by the spread of novel coronavirus and efforts addressed to contain it. At the same time the parties stressed the significance of international cooperation and coordination of the actions in fighting against the epidemic.
In this pre-context Zohrab Mnatsakanyan thanked the U.S. Government for the financial assistance allocated to Armenia for fighting against coronavirus.
The two officials also referred to the issues of movement of people caused with the air and land transportation restrictions.
In this regard, Armenia’s minister referred to the number of issues Armenian citizens wishing to return to Armenia face in the USA and requested the assistance of the U.S. side in the solution of the issues.
With the request of the U.S. official, the minister briefed on the March 30 incident at the Armenian-Azerbaijani border as a result of which two Armenian servicemen and a civilian were wounded.
Wrapping up the conversation the two officials emphasized bilateral readiness to undertake active steps to enhance the agenda of Armenian-U.S. cooperation.
