Over 12% of Armenia’s population in risk group: Tigran Avinyan
There is no effective strategy in fighting against the pandemic and there is no way to fully eliminate the infection, commandant, deputy Prime Minister Tigran Avinyan said at the extraordinary session in the NA today.
“The creation of vaccine may last for months, if not a year. The measures undertaken by the government are aimed at controlling these uncertainties,” Avinyan said.
He stressed that the nations are facing dilemma either to try to avoid big number of victims and slow down the spread of the disease creating an opportunity for the healthcare sector serve the patients or allow quick spread of the disease forming immunity and allowing return to regular life but at the same time have bigger death toll.
“The majority of the states chose the first variant not excluding though the passage to the second one,” he said.
Avinyan stressed that in Armenia over 12% of the population over 353 thousand people are in risk group according to their age irrespective of health condition.
He said the number of people with diabetes in Armenia reaches 77,418 and number of those with cardio diseases reaches 71,025.
