Dissatisfaction is not a bad phenomenon but a stimulus: Ruben Babayan

I am not feeling any disappointment as I have never felt any big enthusiasm, director of Hovhannes Tumanyan Puppet Theatre Ruben Babayan told Aysor.am, referring to the yesterday’s live video of Armenia’s PM Nikol Pashinyan.

Babayan said that only those having big hopes may feel disappointment.

“When for instance the head of the executive power was speaking about pro-Europeans and pro-Russians, I once again understood that I do not consider myself to be a pro-European, but I am a European. I consider Armenia to be Europe, the Armenian culture, European culture. I consider that the Armenian people are bearers of European values as the European values come from Christian values. I do not see any contradictions between pro-Europeans and pro-Russians. I have many Russian friends who consider themselves Europeans. And not only they consider them being so, but Europe too. This is why this separation for me seems a bit artificial,” he said.

Referring to the calls of certain circles that the authorities must put an end to “velvet” governance and pass to more tough methods, Babayan said it is demand which he does not understand.

“What does it mean velvet or not velvet? There are legal and illegal actions. In general Nikol Pashinyan pays too much attention to Facebook. People are much more wider mass, and finally we have no enemies in the country. People just express different views, approaches, and if someone is dissatisfied with the current situation it does not mean that he/she wants return to former rules or consider that he/she has not got desirable post. It is not so at all,” he stressed.

Referring to the sphere of culture, Babayan said he is very dissatisfied with the policy in the sector.

“Nothing happens in legislative regard. Free art figures and culture are not given place for development, but it does not mean that I have not received a post I wanted. In general dissatisfaction is not a bad thing, it ensures development. If the humanity was satisfied with the situation, it would have continued living on trees. Dissatisfaction is stimulus, it is not a negative phenomena,” he said adding that the revolution too was a result of dissatisfaction.
