Political component in settlement of gas price issue is very big: PAP deputy

Prosperous Armenia party deputy, chairman of NA’s Regional and Eurasian Integration Affairs Standing Committee Mikayel Melkumyan thinks that gas price issue has more political aspect.

“The political component in the solution of gas price issue is very big. I have stated from NA chair about the need of urgent negotiations, after which deputy PM Mher Grigoryan sent a letter to Miller who in his turn said that it is on inter-governmental level, which means it is not on economic. If it is so, it means political negotiations must take place,” Melkumyan said.

He stressed that Armenia’s peculiarity is that it not only gets gas from Russia, but the distributor of gas in the inner market is being done by a Russian company as well.

“Both the supplier and the distributor is the same Gazprom. Only we are in such situation,” he said.
