The unemployment rate in Armenia will grow by 1,3% after the pandemic becoming 19% from current 17,7%, deputy minister of social affairs Arman Udumyan said at the session of the NA’s Healthcare and Social Affairs Standing Committee.
“In numbers we will have additional 40,000 unemployed in the country,” he said.
He said the unemployment will be noticeable in service, food sectors and in construction sector.
“We do not have figures now, but we understand that the big army of seasonal workers who were mainly departing for Russia to work will soon fill the army of unemployed,” the deputy minister said, stressing the necessity to work out targeted programs for different groups of stakeholders.
Udumyan said the ministry has worked out two programs and submitted for government’s approval.
