With number of implemented tests Armenia is comparable with Japan, Italy: health minister
The burden of the healthcare system is gradually increasing, Health Minister Arsen Torosyan said at the session of the NA’s Healthcare and Social Affairs Standing Committee.
“Currently it is a bearable burden, but in parallel with the increase of the burden we must do everything not to leave a citizen needing medical assistance without it. This is our key goal as of the moment,” the minister said.
Torosyan stressed that there is no lack of equipment and medical staff yet.
Referring to the criticism over not enough tests implemented in Armenia, Torosyan said, “With the number of implemented tests Armenia is comparable with Japan, Italy. I am speaking about tests implemented for one confirmed case. There are countries, like for instance the United Arab Emirates who are making ten times more tests but we are not in bad position in this regard, our testing capacities will gradually increase,” he said.
Speaking about number of beds, Torosyan said that currently there are 350 free beds in hospitals.
