VEON withdraws from discussions with Ucom company related to potential transaction in Armenia
VEON Ltd, a leading global provider of connectivity and internet services and owner of Beeline Armenia has withdrawn from discussions with Ucom CJSC related to a potential transaction involving its operating company in Armenia, which was previously disclosed on 15 January 2020.
On December 30, 2019 Ucom applied to the Public Services Regulatory Commission to buy “VEON Armenia” company (Beeline brand). On January 15, 2020 VEON head office in Amsterdam confirmed viewing the possibility of transaction with Ucom.
On April 9 the former director of Ucom Hayk Yesayan and big number of employees issued a statement and left the company explaining the step with disagreements with the rest of shareholders.
On April 28 chairman of the company’s Board of Directors Gurgen Khachatryan issued a statement, saying that high-ranking officials of the company demand that they sell the company and promised to create uncontrollable situation in the company and start criminal persecution against him.
