CoE Convention on protection of children from sexual violence does not stem from children’s interests: PAP deputy
The Council of Europe Convention on protection of children from sexual exploitation and sexual violence contains provisions which rationally threaten the interests of upbringing of children, Prosperous Armenia faction deputy Gevorg Petrosyan said at the National Assembly today.
“Yesterday I have received many calls from the representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church. All were against this convention. We still believe that it does not stem from the best interests of protection of rights of children,” he said.
In his turn deputy speaker of the parliament from PAP Vahe Enfiajyan added that the convention has some problematic provisions.
“We could have comprehensive discussion of the convention and then put it for voting,” he said.
The draft law has been adopted by 72 for, 12 against and zero abstained.
