CSTO to join fight against coronavirus pandemic if necessary: Secretary General
In case of necessity the CSTO will address its resources to the fight against coronavirus pandemic, CSTO Secretary General Stanislav Zas said in an interview with RIA Novosti, adding that currently there is no need of it.
He said he had phone conversations with the secretaries of the CSTO member countries’ security councils regarding the spread of coronavirus.
Zas also noted that the new realities agreed with the pandemic will be discussed at May 26 session of the Ministerial Council of the CSTO.
“Indeed, the pandemic is a new threat but the CSTO’s legal field allows to respond to such kind of threat. The acting normative-legal basis and the opportunities in the system allow to respond to the pandemic,” Zas said.
The CSTO member states are Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan.
