Armenia, EU to proceed in Armenia-EU partnership agreement
Armenia has arrangement with the European partners to proceed in Armenia-EU partnership agreement, Armenia’s Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated at news conference today.
“We must also understand that today migration is the main political issue in the EU. We have an issue that previously the implementation of the agreements on liberalization of visa regime created serious problems, political problems. It is a rather sensitive issue for us and for the EU and is important for Armenia-EU relations,” the head of the government said.
“But we show that during the recent years the number of Armenian citizens applying for asylum in EU countries has reduced by 60%. It is a very serious argument and many leaders of the European countries admit that it is necessary to start negotiations with Armenia,” he said, voicing hope that on the background of the retreat of the pandemic the Armenian-EU negotiations will launch.
