Formation of new government already a public demand: expert
The failure of the government, headed by the prime minister, to fight against coronavirus is obvious, director of Politeconomy Research Institute Andranik Tevanyan told Aysor.am, stressing that it has become obvious from the moment the authorities preferred conduction of referendum to implementation of coronavirus prevention measures.
“The figures in Armenia and the situation in neighbor Georgia and Azerbaijan convince us that we have incompetent government. In this regard, the responsibility lays directly on the prime minister who was stating that there is no need to pay attention to coronavirus,” he said, adding that the minister appointed by him was telling the people not to worry.
“Besides the growing number of coronavirus cases we are also facing social-economic issues which the government fails to solve either. In conditions when we need public mobilization, elimination of atmosphere of hatred, we see separation, political persecutions, unlawful laws, and naturally the issue of new government and new prime minister raises,” Tevanyan stressed.
He said the formation of new government may be reached as a result of wide public consolidation which will include both healthy forces inside the government and parliamentary and non-parliamentary opposition, expert and civilian forces.
“It must be an act of pan-national unity. The formation of the new government is a public demand but when it will be possible is a matter of discussion. Who the new PM, ministers will be is already a secondary issue,” Tevanyan said.
