Worsening of relations with traditionally friendly countries inadmissible: Artur Vanetsyan
The Republic of Armenia has partnership relations with only two of its neighbor countries, while it is more than obvious that our relations with Iran and Georgia must be brilliant, former director of the National Security Service Artur Vanetsyan said at the congress of the Hayrenik party today.
“We are able to be a bridge in economic and political relations between our neighbors and third partner countries. While the recent developments testify that the relations with our traditional allies have started worsening which is inadmissible,” Vanetsyan said.
“We have so much focused on the domestic events that seem to forget about necessity of consistent work with our international partners. We need to carry out every day work with our international partners in different formats – CSTO, EAEU, PACE, EU and other structures,” the former official said.
He stressed the necessity to fully use the opportunities given by the EAEU and CSTO, develop strategic partnership with Russia to get deeper and mutually beneficial result.
“We have noticeable opportunities to boost our relations with Iran. Irrespective of conjuncture of international relations Iran is our century-long brother state, our direct neighbor and very important partner for Armenia,” Vanetsyan said, adding that the relations with other important partners – the USA, European countries, China, India must be of planned and coordinated nature and be raised on new level.
